The AMI Elementary Assistants’ Certificate Course is useful for parents, guardians, and adults working with children from all fields. The course offers an in depth understanding of Dr. Montessori's Approach to Education. Course work will consist of lectures, readings and discussion, practical session and Observation. The course is designed such that it highlights the important work of an adult as an assistant to the child's development. It opens the way for adults to assist children both at home and in school. It helps interested adults work with children in a Montessori environment. Upon completion of the course requirements, participants are awarded a certificate from AMI.

Course Components

Theory Lectures
The course lectures will touch upon some of the main principles of Montessori education.

  • Introduction to Montessori
  • Introduction to Montessori’s theory of human development
  • The prepared environment for the second plane
  • The plan for the elementary child
  • Cosmic education
  • Freedom and responsibility
  • Interacting with the elementary child
  • Observation
  • The Assistant

 Practical Sessions
The course also includes practical sessions.

  • Presentations

 Observation
Observation is a requirement for the certification. Students will need to observe a child, a plant, a thing or a painting and videos. They will be required to record and submit a written report of their observations.

Assignments
Students will need to submit written work at regular intervals during the course. These assignments will include theory essays and observation reports. All assignments must be completed in order to receive the certificate.

Attendance

In order to receive the certificate students must have 90% attendance. Students with attendance below 90% will not be eligible for an AMI certificate.

Language

All lectures will be in English. Course work will need to be presented in English.

Certification

The AMI Elementary Assistants’ Certificate is awarded to those who complete all the course requirements. In order to receive the AMI Assistants Certificate, the applicant should:

  • Have 90% attendance
  • Submit all the assignments
  • Complete the required hours of observation and submit an Observation report

AMI Trainer

Ms Madhavi Gaddam
Auxiliary AMI Trainer

Madhavi Gaddam, is the first Auxiliary Trainer in Asia, for the elementary level. She holds the Association Montessori International (AMI) 3 to 6 and 6 to 12 diplomas. She has also done her orientation to Adolescent studies under AMI. She has vast experience, working with children in Montessori environments.

The Course Schedule and Timings:

The course will be held during the dates August 10th to August 27th 2020.
The course timings will be from 2 PM to 5 PM every day Monday to Thursday.

Eligibility

Candidates from all walks of life and from different professions are welcome. The course is open to anyone who wants to know more about Montessori philosophy.

To apply, the following must be submitted:

  • Application Form duly filled on-line and by the applicant.
  • Latest digital passport size photo to be attached to the form.
  • Attested OR Certified Copies of all educational documents.
  • Aadhaar Card Copy and OR Passport Copy (Proof of Residence and Nationality).
  • Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) Copy (If applicable).
  • Application Fee detailed to be entered in the application form.
